Head of Design


Head of Design opportunity with a growing GreenTech startup to be their first product design hire. This is a hybrid role based in London with 2 days of office work required per week (flexibility on what days).

Our client is on a mission to help prevent the worst impacts of climate change in order to help us become a net-zero economy. They build technologies that enable environmental data-driven decisions to be made that help companies reduce their carbon emissions. Their accurate software provides insights into companies’ carbon emissions in near real-time, allowing them to analyse their carbon risks and opportunities.

This is an opportunity to be the first product design hire and have genuine influence and control within a fast-growing tech company that is positively impacting our planet. You will work closely with founders and senior management to shape the company’s product strategy and grow the product function. As the most senior design hire you will have a clear path into a Design Director position.

About the role:

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to lead the entire user experience of the product
  • Build out the product design function, including hiring, training and managing the design team
  • Conduct research and usability tests, as well as utilise data to thoroughly understand consumer needs and drive consumer-related decisions
  • Prototyping new ideas and validating usability, feasibility and viability
  • Help define the product roadmap and work with the team on defining problems that you will own and solve together
  • Design UX/UI solutions for new and ongoing challenges and strive to enhance the entire customer experience
  • Take full product ownership and conduct quality assurance

About you:

  • Several years of experience in product design roles for B2B2C focused products
  • Has worked in tech startups and scale-ups with experience working in agile methodologies
  • Data-driven product designer with experience managing product teams
  • Experience in both UX and UI design, evidenced in portfolio
  • Comfortable with gathering data insights & creating prototypes
